On Monday, February 14, 2022, the State of Texas by and thru the Legal professional Common of Texas, Ken Paxton, filed go well with towards Meta Platforms, Inc. for alleged violations of the state’s biometric and misleading commerce practices legal guidelines. The State of Texas claims that “Fb unlawfully captured the biometric identifiers of Texans for a industrial goal with out their knowledgeable consent, disclosed these identifiers to others, and didn’t destroy collected identifiers inside an affordable time, all in violation of the Texas Seize or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, Tex. Bus. & Com. Code § 503.001 (“CUBI”); and that Fb engaged in false, deceptive, and misleading acts and practices in violation of the Texas Misleading Commerce Practices-Shopper Safety Act (“DTPA”), Tex.
